March 2008: IBM hosted a one-day meeting in London on Web Science, where several speakers involved in WSRI (including Tim Berners-Lee) gave presentations in the morning, and in the afternoon Dave Cliff presented LSCITS, followed by a panel session involving WSRI folk (Wendy Hall, Nigel Shadbolt, and Danny Weitzner), LSCITS folk (Dave Cliff and Ian Sommerville), plus (via a telecoms link) Stuart Kauffman. February 2008: Ian Sommerville gave a keynote address to the 8th IEEE International Conference on Composition-based Software Systems (ICCBSS8) in Madrid on 27th February entitled Designing for Recovery: New Challenges for Complex IT Systems. The presentation is available here.
February 2008: Funding of £4.1m for the LSCITS EngD component of the Training Programme is approved by EPSRC Review Panel.
October 2007: The LSCITS Research Programme officially commences.
February 2007: Funding of £5.6m for the LSCITS Research Programme approved by EPSRC Review Panel.
September 2006: First full proposal for funding of entire LSCITS Initiative submitted to EPSRC.
April 2006: LSCITS Director post (part-time funding) officially commences.
October 2005: LSCITS Director appointed.
